There’s a reason we chose pictures of our staff on the field for their introductions. It’s because the AP LAX Lab staff are dedicated lifelong learners of the game. What began as sessions to help us improve our performance (even long after our college playing days) became a way to give back to the game we love.

If we can instill the same passion we have to our athletes through our training sessions, then we have accomplished more than just accelerating skill development. We have inspired our athletes to be learners, to think, to innovate, and to seek the best of themselves on and off the field.

Our Team

  • KRIS BAYER

Kris was the head coach of LaPlata HS for 12 years where his teams never lost a County game and was twice named Conference Coach of the Year.

Kris was Team Captain of Brown University’s 1994 Final Four team, is a member of Brown Lacrosse Team of the Decade and is in the Brown School Hall of Fame.

  • JOE CASALINO

Joe has coached more than 20 years at Northern (MD) and Thomas Jefferson (VA). His teams won 123 straight conference wins from 2009-2019, made three consecutive state championship appearances, and was Maryland state champion in 2017.

Joe is co-founder of Cannons Select Lacrosse and was an All-Conference Midfielder at St. Mary's College of Maryland.

  • MARK DUNNIVAN

Mark is one of the leading youth lacrosse coaches in Southern Maryland, coaching teams at multiple age groups for Cannons Select Lacrosse. He also served as an Assistant Coach for Offense at Northern HS.

Mark led Calvert LC to consecutive Top 10 rankings from the Washington Post and played collegiately at Anne Arundel CC

  • DAVE SCOTT

Dave has more than a decade experience as a Defensive Assistant Coach at Northern, Huntingtown and The Calverton School.

Dave played collegiately at Lehigh University and is a shutdown defender on the Cannons Classic Mens team. His innovative training for defenders is unique within our community.

  • DARRYL (DJ) WALKER, JR

DJ played collegiately at DII Chowan University and DIII St. Mary’s College of Maryland. DJ was the starting goalie for Northern High School, winning a state championship in 2017, only allowing four goals in the title game.

Always a student of the position, DJ brings his talents to our goaltender training, providing skill development that is sorely lacking at the position.

  • JASON ZAPOLI

“Zap” is our mad professor, working with players to understand how their stick setup impacts performance and modifying it when necessary.

An expert stick dyer, Zap can also provide your player with sticks that they are excited to use, deepening their love for their equipment and the game.
